Our Identity
The South Andhra Lutheran Church (Dakshina Andhra Lutheran Sangham) was established in 1865 by the Hermannsburg Mission Society. Later carried forward by the Joint Synod of Ohio and the American Lutheran Church, we formally organized as a self-governing church body in January 1945.
Today, SALC operates under a synodical form of government. The church is divided into 8 geographical zones to effectively minister to lakhs of people. We remain steadfast in our Lutheran heritage, firmly believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The South Andhra Lutheran Church was founded in 1865 by the Hermannsburg Mission Society
(German missionaries) starting in regions like Sulurupeta. It formally organized as a
synodical structure in January 1945.
According to the official Lutheran World Federation registry, the South Andhra Lutheran
Church serves lakhs of people through congregational life, pastoral care, and mission outreach.
Our primary language of worship and administration is Telugu, as we serve the
Telugu-speaking population of Andhra Pradesh. We also conduct some services in English.
The church is geographically and administratively divided into 8 distinct zones to better
manage parishes and facilitate pastoral care.
