Gospel & Evangelism

At the very heart of the South Andhra Lutheran Church is the Great Commission. From regular Sunday worship to expansive evangelistic campaigns, our primary calling is to share the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Our dedicated pastors and evangelists conduct village mission tours traversing across all 8 zones in Andhra Pradesh. Through vibrant Telugu-language worship services and focused discipleship, we continue to guide souls to the profound truth of the Gospel.

Education

Our educational legacy traces back to 1866 with the opening of our first school in Nayudupeta. Today, SALC proudly operates 10 elementary schools, 5 secondary schools, and an industrial school, making quality education accessible to marginalized communities.

Institutions like the P.M. High School in Tirupati (formerly H.I.L.M., est. 1880) alongside our boys' and girls' boarding homes, continue to shape the next generation of leaders across Tirupati, Gudur, Koduru, Rajam, and Renigunta.

Medical Mission

Following Christ’s example of compassion and healing, our medical ministry has touched countless lives. The crown jewel of this effort is the Katharine Lehmann Christian Hospital in Renigunta, established in 1927.

Alongside the hospital, we operate rural dispensaries and conduct medical outreach across our 8 zones. Historically, we have also provided focused leprosy care and rehabilitation, notably through the Krishna Palle Leprosy Settlement founded in Koduru.

Women's Ministry

Since 1892, women have been indispensable to the spiritual fabric of SALC. Originating with the 'Bible Women's work' in Gudur, the ministry has flourished into Ladies' Societies active across all congregations.

Through the Women's Maha Samajam annual conventions, Jana Seva outreach programs, and dedicated widow care, we champion the spiritual growth, vocational training, and social upliftment of women in every community.

Theological Education

Sound doctrine and capable leadership are vital to our church’s future. The SALC Seminary in Nayudupeta (est. 1892) has historically equipped our native pastors for rigorous ministry.

Furthermore, as a founding participant since 1931, SALC deeply engages with Gurukul Lutheran Theological College in Chennai (affiliated with the Senate of Serampore College) to offer B.D., M.Th., and M.A. programs, alongside lay leadership training across our zones.

Social Service

We believe the Gospel must be demonstrated in deeds of profound compassion. Our Social Services division operates primarily across the Chittoor District, extending a safety net to the most vulnerable.

Through orphanages, children’s homes, agricultural schools, and comprehensive rural development initiatives, SALC actively fights systemic poverty and provides a nurturing environment for those left behind by society.
